Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Cloudflare?

It’s a free CDN (content delivery network) with a security layer that ’just works‘ in conjunction with your existing hosting service. When we learned about it, we knew our customers had to have it.

  • How do I enable it on my (mt) service?

Quick & simple set-up via the AccountCenter will have you up and running in 5 minutes! Step-by-step instructions can be found in the How do I enable CloudFlare? article.

  • What happens when I update my website?

(mt) will serve any new files while CloudFlare updates its global network. You also have control over your cache settings.

  • Where do I put my files?

You upload all your files to your (mt) hosting service as usual.

  • What is Railgun?

Railgun is a new component of CloudFlare that accelerates the connection between each CloudFlare data center and an origin server. It caches previously uncacheable pages so that even when the origin server must be consulted, web pages are delivered very fast. It even works for rapidly changing pages like news sites.

  • Does CloudFlare support SSL?

Yes. However, in order to use SSL (https://), you’ll need to upgrade to a paid service through CloudFlare.

  • Can I turn CloudFlare off?

Anytime you want. Just disable it in your AccountCenter. Step-by-step instructions are here: How do I disable the CloudFlare service?

  • Will it work for any of my services?

Currently, Cloudflare with Railgun works with our (gs) Grid Service. Not a customer yet? Learn more about the (gs) Grid Service..
